  • About Mary

For the past two years, Mary was an administrator for First Steps, the State’s early intervention program for developmentally delayed infants and toddlers.

Mary comes to the neighborhood liaison position as an active community member in Pike Township. Mary was president of Liberty Creek North Homeowners Association for three years. She is engaged in the Lafayette Square Area Coalition, working to revitalize that area.

As chair of the Events Committee, she coordinated the first Taste the Difference event to promote the area’s culturally diverse restaurants. Through her efforts, the Coalition received an IMAGINE matching grant for the Taste event and an economic development grant from the Wal-Mart Foundation to support a Youth Council and promote youth engagement and opportunities in the area. In 2004-2005, she co-coordinated the first Taste of Pike festival to celebrate the arts and diversity of Pike Township, with over seventy languages spoken in the area.

Mary has a B.A. in history and economics from Kenyon College (Ohio) and a Ph.D. in history from the University of Rochester (NY). For nine years, she taught European and world history, including at Butler University.
